Observations during the passage of the core an anticyclone, 31 December, 2002

Further Comments

 - Between the hours of one and four AM on 1 January 2002 the wind
direction rotated slowly through 360 degrees in a clockwise direction.
 - This was preceded and followed by periods of much stronger winds.
 - The rapid warming seen between eight AM and 12 PM on the 31st
was probably principally due to solar heating (the sky was clear)
but could also have an air mass component (eg. a warm front).

In the wind speed figure the orange (cyan) line shows the one minute average (maximum) wind speed.
